Curriculum Vitae
MOGENS JACOBSEN, born in 1959 in Rome, is a Danish artist based in Copenhagen.
His work focuses on the temporal and material aesthetics of systems, processes, rules, and algorithms. His artworks often take the form of speculative machines or devices that critically and humorously examine technology and our everyday lives.
He began working with digital art, objects, and installations in the early nineties and is one of the pioneers of internet art in Denmark. In 1994, he co-founded the Danish net-art collective The Artnode Foundation.
Mogens' works has been exhibited at numerous national and international venues, including the Media Art Festival in Japan, FILE in Brazil, ZKM and Transmediale in Germany, Ars Electronica in Austria, Nihonbashi House in Japan, and the Momentum Biennale in Norway.
In 2018, he completed a large-scale interactive sculpture for the city of Vallensbæk near Copenhagen. The Danish Arts Foundation commissioned this pioneering work as the first permanent interactive electronic sculpture in an outdoor public space in Denmark.
Mogens Jacobsen teaches experimental and critical design at the IT University of Copenhagen. He frequently works in interdisciplinary collaborative groups on research projects.
